Stoke City have had a third bid rejected for Sarpsborg 08 striker Daniel Karlsbakk. The Potters are in advanced talks for the 23-year-old forward, who scored 18 goals in the Eliteserien last season. Manager Mark Robins is keen to bolster his attacking options after a disappointing 17th-place finish in the Championship last season, with Stoke scoring just 51 goals in 46 games.
The 6ft 5in centre-forward has been prolific in Norway, netting 21 goals in all competitions in 2025. Karlsbakk began his career at Bryne FK before moving to Viking and SC Heerenveen. His breakthrough came at Sarpsborg, where he has become a clinical finisher with excellent movement and pressing.
Stoke struggled for goals last season, finishing 17th with 55 points. Their 51 goals were the seventh-lowest in the Championship, and only Divin Mubama (6) and Sorba Thomas (10) reached double figures. With the new season approaching, Robins is looking to add firepower to his squad.
The Potters are reportedly close to meeting Sarpsborg's £4m valuation for Karlsbakk. With other clubs also interested, Stoke will need to act quickly if they want to secure the striker's signature. Their next fixture is away to Wolves on August 29, 2026.
