Stoke City has signed Luke Graham from Dundee in a £2m deal, with the defender set to undergo a medical.

What happened?

The 22-year-old ball-playing centre-back broke into the Dundee starting eleven in 2023–24 and earned recognition in Scotland's youth setups. Dundee were under no pressure to sell cheaply, having knocked back a club-record £1.5m bid from Portsmouth in January.

Why it matters for Stoke City

The signing of Graham is a significant move for Stoke City, who are looking to strengthen their defense after conceding 56 goals this season. With a recent form of LLLLD, Stoke City will be hoping Graham can help turn their fortunes around.

What comes next?

Once Graham passes his medical and the paperwork is signed, attention will shift to how Stoke City deploy him within their defensive shape. As of now, Stoke City sits 17th in the Championship, 40 points behind leaders Coventry, with a goal difference of -5, having scored 51 goals and conceded 56. Their last result was a 2-0 loss to Bristol City on 2026-05-02. Former Scotland international Alex Rae praised Graham's development, saying: “The penny has dropped for him… in terms of the ways he goes about things”
