Stoke City have loaned forward Emre Tezgel to Wycombe Wanderers for the 2026-27 season. The 20-year-old arrives after a productive spell at Crewe Alexandra, where he netted 15 goals and made 36 appearances last term, earning the club’s Young Player of the Year award.
What does Tezgel bring to Wycombe?
Tezgel is a proven finisher, with 15 goals in all competitions for Crewe last season. Wycombe’s Director of Football Strategy and Data Intelligence, Tom Stockwell, said: “Having already gained experience in the EFL with MK Dons and Crewe Alexandra in League Two, we are confident Emre is ready to have impact for Wycombe in League One.”
The Wanderers finished 17th in the Championship last season with 55 points from 46 games, though Tezgel will be aiming to fire them up the table in League One instead.
Tezgel’s Stoke City roots run deep
Tezgel made history at Stoke by becoming their youngest-ever player when he debuted aged 16 in January 2022. Since then, he has made 23 senior appearances for the Potters and continued to impress at youth level, scoring 47 goals in 71 games for their Under-18 and Under-21 sides.
Stoke’s recent form has been poor, with five straight losses in their last five matches. Their last result was a 2-0 defeat to Bristol City on May 2, 2026.
What’s next for Stoke City?
With Tezgel’s loan departure, Stoke City will look to regroup after a tough end to the 2025-26 Championship campaign. They sit 40 points behind league leaders Coventry and will need a strong start to the new season to avoid another difficult fight at the wrong end of the table.
League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 17th in Championship, 55 pts, 15W-10D-21L from 46 games, recent form LLLLD.
